Dr. med. Hans-Peter Haug

Dr Haug began refractive surgery in 1990 as one of the first ophthalmic surgeons in Germany. He was the LASIK pioneer in Southern Germany. After studying medicine at the Albrecht Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau, Dr Haug obtained his doctorate on the subject of "Orthopia treatment of amblyopia in the case of eccentric fixation with active pleoptics", under the supervision of Prof Dr med. P. Grützner.
He was then a junior doctor in Karlsruhe, Forbach and Freiburg.
Dr Haug performed his military service as a unit doctor in Germersheim. His training as an ophthalmist was completed at the University Eye Clinic in Freiburg, under the tutorship of Prof Dr med. G. Mackensen.
The basis for the continuing good international exchange of knowledge was created through his work at the Bascolm Palmer Institute in Miami and at the Moorfield Eye Hospital in London. Amongst other things, Dr Haug was also a researcher in projects with Prof Dr med. R. Sundmacher on the subject of surgical experiments in the strength of wounds in keratoplasty, interferon therapy and research into contact lens materials. Dr Haug has given national and international presentations and has published numerous scientific publications.
